Alumni Association Presents Scholarship Award - 2007

   The Grand Island Alumni Association presented a check to Grand Island High School graduate Michael Davis on Monday, July 2, 2007. Michael will be attending Niagara University in the fall. The GIAA has been providing scholarship money to Grand Island youth for the past four years. Funds are raised through social events such as the upcoming "All Island Reunion" at "Jazz on the River" at the Holiday Inn. This event is scheduled for Friday, August 3rd beginning at 7 p.m. and there is no admission. Buy a duck and take a chance to win an authentic signed Buffalo Sabres Jersey, catered dinner for 20 from Chef's Restaurant and other prizes during the East River Duck Race at the end of August. Alumni Association Presents Second Scholarship Award - 2006

   The Grand Island Alumni Association presented a check to Kaitlin Voltz on Thursday, August 17, 2006 in the newly landscaped high school courtyard. Kaitlin will attend Erie Community College and study respiratory therapy. Thanks to the donation from Mark Frentzel and his fall fundraiser, the Alumni Association was able to give a second scholarship this year. The second scholarship went to Angelia Jaeger who will be attending Buffalo State College to study bilingual education in the fall. The Grand Island Alumni Association is an arm of the Grand Island Foundation For Education.

   Thanks to a donation from the Friends of Mark Frentzel campaign, the Grand Island Alumni Association was able to present two monetary awards to deserving Grand Island High School seniors this year. Angelia Jaeger will be attending Buffalo State College to study bilingual education and Kaitlin Voltz will attend Erie Community College and study respiratory therapy. Angelia was presented her check by alumni members on Monday, July 24, 2006. Thanks to Mark Frentzel for donating money raised at a fall fundraiser to the Alumni Association. The Grand Island Alumni Association is an arm of the Grand Island Foundation For Education.

   Members of the Grand Island Alumni Association award committee are proud to announce Stacey Monaco as the Alumni Association's award winner for 2005. For the second year the Alumni has given an award to a Grand Island graduate who shows positive scholastic effort, personality and character traits. Good citizenship, seriousness of purpose, extra-curricular activities and community involvement also play a role in the decision. Stacey is headed to Canisius College this fall to major in Pre-Law.

   Members of the Grand Island Alumni Association award committee are proud to announce Meghan White as the Alumni Association's award winner for 2004. This is the first award the Alumni has given to a Grand Island graduate who shows positive scholastic effort, personality and character traits. Good citizenship, seriousness of purpose, extra-curricular activities and community involvement also play a role in the decision. Meghan has been accepted at the University of Miami - Florida and plans to study Video & Film.
